I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves.

Vicki 's Review of The High Road

Do you like to laugh out loud in great big belly laughs?  If so, then you must read these two books!  Best Laid Plans is a Stephen Leacock Award for Humour winner and the winner of Canada Reads 2011.  It's about Canadian Politics and I know you're saying to yourself right now...BORING!  But really it's not.

You'll fall in love with the main character, a crusty Scotsman named Angus McClintock, because he's just so darned honest.  He is the epitome of who we may want representing us in Ottawa.  He becomes involved in Canadian Federal politics quite by accident but makes the best of it, turning "the Hill" on it's ear, with the help of his faithful cohorts.  The High Road is the sequel, and if you read them in order, by the end of the first book, you'll be phone The Book Keeper to reserve a copy of the second.

I'd love for every young voter to read these books because it highlights many aspects of what goes on during an election, and what goes on up on Parliament Hill following an election.

With our recent trip to the Polls, perhaps Fallis has some fodder for a new Angus adventure.  Let's hope so!
